Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-08-11.
The short version: there is no account, so there is no profile of you to build. This page sets out exactly what does and does not happen when you use anonymousinstagramstoryviewer.com. What you may use the tool for is a separate document, the terms of service, and who runs it is answered on the about page.
Who Is Responsible for Your Data
- Service
- Anonymous Instagram Story Viewer: anonymous Instagram Story viewer and downloader
- Website
- anonymousinstagramstoryviewer.com
- Privacy contact
- hello@anonymousinstagramstoryviewer.com
- Affiliation
- Independent. Not affiliated with Instagram or Meta Platforms
What We Do Not Collect
No sign-up form exists on this site, so none of the following is ever requested or stored:
- Your name
- Your email address, except when you choose to write to us
- Any password
- Instagram credentials of any kind
- Payment or financial details
- Phone numbers or postal addresses
- Biometric or location data
We never request access to your Instagram account, and there is no verification step of any kind.
What the Server Necessarily Sees
Like any website, our server receives your IP address and browser user-agent with each request, because that is how HTTP works. We use them for one purpose: enforcing the per-visitor rate limit that keeps the service usable for everyone.
- A short-lived counter is held in memory and discarded
- We write no request logs tying searches to addresses
- We build no profiles from this data
- It is never sold, rented or shared for commercial purposes
Your Searches
The tool records no search history. Nothing is written on our server, nothing is stored in your browser, and there is no public "recent searches" feed, a feature several other story viewers still publish.
Caching
Public profile data, the same information Instagram already shows anyone, is cached on the server for roughly 10 minutes so a trending account is not re-fetched hundreds of times. That cache holds the profile's public content, not anything about the person who searched for it, and entries expire on their own.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The tool sets no tracking cookies and we run no advertising trackers, no fingerprinting and no cross-site profiling. If we ever add privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics, we will name the provider on this page first.
Third-Party Services
Two third parties are involved in running the site, and only two:
- Our hosting provider, Vercel, which serves the pages and necessarily processes the connection data described above. Their handling of it is set out in theVercel privacy notice (opens in a new tab).
- Web3Forms, a form-relay provider used only by the contact form. Submitting it sends your name, email and message through Web3Forms so the message reaches our inbox. We use those details solely to reply, and their side of it is covered by theWeb3Forms privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
No advertising network, data broker or analytics vendor receives anything from this site.
Media Streaming and Downloads
Every photo and video is relayed through our server rather than linked from Instagram. Two consequences follow, and both favour you:
- Your browser never opens a connection to Instagram, so no data of yours reaches Meta Platforms
- Media passes through in transit and is not written to disk as an archive
What the Accounts You Look At Can See
Nothing. A story view is recorded by a separate report Instagram's app sends after the media loads. This service never sends that report, and you have no account for it to name, so no notification is generated and no view count changes. What Meta itself collects from its own users is a different question, answered in theMeta Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab), and the mechanism on our side is described on the about page.
Data Retention
- Rate-limit counters: held in memory, discarded within minutes
- Cached profile data: roughly 10 minutes, then expired automatically
- Search history: never created, so nothing to retain
- Contact emails: kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry
Children's Privacy
The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. Since no personal data is collected at all, there is nothing to delete, but write to hello@anonymousinstagramstoryviewer.comif you have a concern and we will respond.
Your Rights
Where the GDPR (opens in a new tab),UK GDPR (opens in a new tab),CCPA (opens in a new tab) or a comparable law applies, you hold rights over personal data a service holds about you, including:
- Access to a copy of your data
- Correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure of your data
- Objection to processing
- Withdrawal of consent
We hold no personal data about visitors, so in practice there is nothing to export or delete. If you believe otherwise, email hello@anonymousinstagramstoryviewer.com and we will investigate and reply.
External Links
The site links out in a few places: to Instagram'sHelp Centre (opens in a new tab), to theMeta Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab), and to the policies of the two providers named above. Every one of them opens in a new tab, so this page stays where you left it. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any external site, and you should read their policies before interacting with them.
Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or the law. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
